Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone to play sisters in Subbulakshmi biopic?
It’s no secret now that national award winning actress Vidya Balan will be playing famous Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi in a biopic to be directed by Rajiv Menon and now reports are that she will be joined by another actress soon.

According to reports, Vidya will be joined by the Cocktail actress Deepika Padukone. Both Deepika and Vidya are from south.

Deepika, who is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela, is likely to play Vidya’s younger sister Bala.

Besides Ram Leela, Deepika has two other big releases, Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani later this year.

On the other hand Vidya has just wrapped up Ghanchakkar and will soon begin shooting for Kahaani 2.

Vidya will essay the role of MS Subbulakshmi, Deepika Padukone is said to play Vidya’s sister, Bala.Rajiv Menon, who is known to be a big fan of Deepika is keen to work with her and so he will ensure that she is not sidelined by Vidya and that both will get meaty roles.

Hmmm, so looks like it will be the beginning of a new friendship in B-town.

Vidya is known to share a very nice relationship with all her co-stars and so is Deepika. Both the actresses have never been known to have thrown starry tantrums. So we are sure there wouldn’t be any kind of ego-tussle between the two.

Initially, rumors had it that Aishwarya Rai would be playing the role of MS Subbulakshmi. But, Aish rejected the offer as she felt that the movie did not have the elements of a mainstream Bollywood movie, as it is more of an art film.

Menon is really keen to work with DeePee and has therefore brought her on board. However, neither Deepika nr the makers of the film have made any official announcement about the
same.
