Is Deepika Padukone Going to Bag the Role in Salman Starrer “Kick”?
Deepika Padukone has been speeding towards the higher spot among female actors in lightning speed. She has been doing different kinds of roles in films such as “Aarakshan”, and “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se”.
Her last film has been “Cocktail” that has changed the scenario for her, all for the better. Her character of Veronica has been seen as a representation of a modern daunting woman. Her performance in the film has been seamless and thus she got a ‘thumbs up’ from her fans and critics.
She now has films like “Race 2” and “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” to offer. “Race 2” is a stylishly pitched, action thriller that has her in a pivotal role. Ayan Mukerji’s “Yeh Jawaaani Hai Deewani” too is being waited for as it embodies the union of ex-lovers- Ranbir Kapoor and her. She is also shooting for Rohit Shetty’s “Chennai Express” which stars Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Ram Leela” side by side.
Over the last week it has been in the news that this rising star does not have the time for the superstar of the nation – Salman Khan.
Salman’s upcoming flick “Kick” had been in the news for quiet sometime. Deepika Padukone who has never been paired with the star has been approached for it. Sajid Nadiadwala who is an established producer will be making his directorial debut with this film.
News of Deepika featuring in “Kick” had been doing the rounds since a few years back. However, the film only got delayed.
Deepika Padukone’s date issues are posing a problem for the film. Sajid has asked Deepika to block a solid four months (August to November) for this film. However, she being committed to other projects can provide only slots of 10-15 days at a time.
Salman being the more established star is the priority for the director. Also, Salman cannot be asked to change his dates to accommodate another actor’s dates.
It has also been reported the actress was really ‘kicked’ to have got the opportunity of working with Salman. He being one of the most bankable actors in today’s time no actress would not want to act with him. Also, the director is keen to cast her in the film as they will make a fresh pair.
When Sajid was contacted about the film, he said “Talks are still in progress. So it’s too early for me to comment.”
